This contemporary, mixed-use development on Canmore’s Main Street combines two street-oriented retail units at grade with four visitor accommodation units above. Stepped massing, recessed upper levels, and a rooftop terrace with mountain views respond to the surrounding context while maintaining a pedestrian-scaled streetscape and contemporary alpine character.
Heavy timber posts and beams are paired with durable non-combustible cladding to improve wildfire resilience and long-term performance. At street level, a recessed sheltered seating area and covered bicycle parking contribute to the vibrancy of Main Street.
The building incorporates a high-performance envelope, geothermal heating and cooling, rooftop solar, and EV charging for both bicycles and vehicles, achieving energy performance at 20% better than NECB and reducing the project's overall carbon footprint.
The Development Permit for 825 Main Street has been approved, with Building Permit and construction slated for summer of 2026.
